Fight Club

Are you looking for a few good men committed to fighting alongside you as you strive to become the man you want to be? Come to Fight Club, meeting Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 at NewLife Christian Fellowship, 1155 Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield. Whether you're dealing with family or work issues, addictions, faith challenges, or just looking for other men who will challenge and encourage you to become the man you want to be, Fight Club is a welcoming and non-judgmental place for you to share your life experiences, struggles, and hopes.

What to Expect

Fight Club begins promptly at 7:00 with a welcome and an opening prayer and comments. After reviewing the Rules of the Ring (see below), there is a brief discussion on a passage from the Bible. Next, there is an opportunity for every man to introduce himself and to share briefly why he has come to Fight Club. Then, from 7:30-8:30, it is Open Forum time, where all are welcome to share in greater depth about the challenges they are facing and to share their experiences or feedback with each other. At 8:30, we close with a simple prayer. Typically, there will be some men staying around until at least 9:00 in case anyone needs to talk more.

All men are welcome, regardless of background or experience. While there is a brief discussion from the Bible, and God and faith will likely be referenced often, you do not have to be a Christian to attend.

Rules of the Ring

  1. Come honest or don’t come at all – there is no room for posers or pretenders. Come with your real issues if you want to see real progress.
  2. Progress, not perfection – the goal is progress, so come ready to get rid of your burdens and receive encouragement towards growth
  3. Fight for each other, not against each other – we do not bash others for their struggles, but we encourage and challenge one another to be the men we know we can be
  4. Grace, not law – our self-worth is not a matter of performance, but is found in being a child of God
  5. Confidentiality – what is said in the ring stays in the ring
